Making the Right Choice

There are several issues you should consider in making your final choice of providers.

Consider the following questions when choosing a provider:

  • How do you go about helping an individual have a good life?

  • What is a 'good fit' between the individual, family, and the Direct Service Provider?

  • What is the track record of providing services?

  • How flexible is the provider?

  • Will the assigned DSP be working exclusively with us?

  • What if the DSP goes into overtime?

  • Can you provide references to speak to the quality of your services?

  • What can you do if the family is in crisis and additional help is needed?

  • How are employees treated?

  • How are families treated?

It has been our experience that these questions, when properly answered, will provide you with a screening mechanism for future service delivery.

If a potential provider cannot answer these questions to your satisfaction, you may want to look for  better fit. The initial time you spend can save you a great deal of worry down the road.
